It has been possible to spread awareness related to this disease among the people, but much more needs to be done. Here we look at Resveratrol & breast cancer today and find out what this compound has in store for us to prevent and cure breast cancer. How Breast Cancer Can Be Prevented & Cured By Resveratrol?
This is a component found in grape skins (potentially in grapes that are used to produce red wine), peanuts, blueberries and some other plants and fruits. This compound has strong chemopreventive properties among the other properties of it being an anti-oxidant and an anti-inflammatory anti-mutant. It has shown great anti-aging qualities and can control several vital conditions of the body like normal blood pressure, insulin content of blood and good cholesterol levels.
When we talk about Resveratrol & breast cancer, the chemopreventive nature of the compound needs to be looked into. Experiments on various animals like rats showed very good results. Resveratrol treatment left the animals with better mammary cell proliferation and differentiation. Decreased tumor growth and longer latency was observed when the animals were fed Resveratrol on a regular basis.
With the implementation of the polypheron Resveratrol, protein levels in the rat mammary glands were regulated. It reduced the effects of the carcinogens on the cells and hence reduced the chances of breast cancer in the rats. These trials proved that Resveratrol does reduce the chances of breast cancer. With the various and constant researches that are going on today, we are to be presented with more good news about the benefits of using Resveratrol.
Conclusion
The conclusion that can be drawn from the above information regarding Resveratrol & breast cancer is quite positive. Today various products that use Resveratrol extracts are available for consumption to lead a healthier life. For centuries, red wine has been linked to numerous health benefits. But this new study, published online in the journal Nature, shows that mammals given ultrahigh doses of resveratrol benefit from positive effects of cutting calories without actually doing it.
"If we're right about this, it would mean you could have the benefit of restricting calories without having to feel hungry," Sinclair said. "It's the Holy Grail of aging research."
Dr. Brent Bauer, director of the Department of Internal Medicine's Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic says "This may be the best thing since sliced bread for human beings, but we just don't know yet." This research, funded in part by the National Institute on Aging, was published in the journals Nature and Cells in November, and bottles of resveratrol have been selling like wildfire ever since.
Resveratrol is the ingredient in red wine that made headlines in November 2007 when scientists demonstrated that it kept overfed mice from gaining weight, turned them into the equivalent of Olympic marathoners, and seemed to slow down their aging process. Few medical discoveries have generated so much instant buzz.
Resveratrol is one of a group of antioxidant compounds called polyphenols found in red wine that has been reported to have anti-inflammatory as well as anticancer properties.
